Joe Hisaishi in Budokan (久石譲in武道館) was a concert commemorating both the Japanese theatrical premiere of Ponyo and the 25 years of musical collaboration between composer Joe Hisaishi and film maker Hayao Miyazaki.
The anime presented in this performance include “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind”, “Mononoke Hime”, “Kiki’s Delivery Service”, “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”, “Laputa, Castle in the Sky”, “Porco Rosso”, “Howl’s Moving Castle”, “Spirited Away”, and “Tonari no Totoro”.
Spent and exceptional hour+ listening to #JoeHisaishi in Budokan celebrating 25 years of #StudioGhibli with a concert performance of anime themes and I am left in a swirl of excitement and melancholy magic of memories and experiences with watching them ... And of really wanting to share them with my film students ... This screenshot is of #HayaoMiyazaki revealed to be sitting in the audience, and I can only but wonder how he would have felt, listening to the music of his creations ... The music are as much a part of the anime as the visuals, especially in Ghibli films, IMHO ... I am always wondering, "how do I harness the magic in my everyday life?" ... And i shed a tear or two for the longing... #henglife
