I actually can't decide if I like " Gatchaman Crowds " yet, having viewed the first episode only just last night, where folks are introduced to this new concept and re-envisioning of the classic " Gatchaman " - now seen thru the eyes of new recruit, " Hajime " (who has a fetish for note books, and is so weird and ditzy, I love her!). Above: Hajime / Below: Opening & Ending title sequences) WHAT-IS: 'The series takes place in the early summer of 2015 and is set in the city of Tachikawa, Japan. A "second metropolis" of Tokyo, Tachikawa is populated by people known as Gatchaman, who are warriors that fight in special reinforced suits that are powered by the manifestation of spiritual powers of living beings called NOTE. A council has recruited individuals that have latent powers to help fight alien criminals. In recent years, the council has appointed the Gatchaman Crew (G-Crew) to fight the mysterious entity known as MESS." ...
GATCHAMAN CROWDS INSIGHT #00 Inbound
The second season of GATCHAMAN CROWDS anime returns July 4th with GATCHAMAN CROWDS INSIGHT presenting a new 12-episode of this rebooted / re-imagined incarnation of beloved "classic" "Gatchaman" AKA "Battle of the Planets", produced by Tatsunoko Production. The new season will see new characters introduced (further description below), as well as existing characters having "new roles", including Rui being a part of GATCHAMAN now, and even Berg-K gets to play on the side of the good guys (*SPOILER* … he was absorbed into Hajime in Season One) … and remember when I bitched about not seeing much of the "G-Suits" AKA adopted Gatchaman Mecha guises in season 1? The recently released teaser episode #00 "Inbound" sees them in full action and glory! (In Japanese with no Eng Subs): Episode 0 of Gatchaman Crowds Insight was streamed on Hulu on June 20th , before the airing of the main series. STORY: "Summer of 2015. The incid...
"Hammerhead" by Ōtarō Maijō & Mahiro Maeda (for #JapanAnimatorExpo)
WARNING: GORE AHEAD “ Hammerhead ” is the name of this animation short, as seen in Japan Animator Expo (Ep #25). Done by Ōtarō Maijō & Mahiro Maeda - which depicts the gruesome fate of the unkillable “superhero/supervillain” known as “Hammerhead”, and of his connection to his teenage daughter. *"HAMMER HIM DEAD." I beg you, please hit, crush, and kill him.* A really “interesting” scenario, especially with the proliferation of super-powered characters - both “hero” and designated “villain” in this pop culture generation. Coupled with the extreme gore, this would make an exceptionally welcomed, especially in this era of “One Punch Man”, not seen since the early 90s, IMHO. Originally announced as part of the second season lineup; "Hammerhead" had since been taken out of the theatrical exhibition lineup after online release (Info via Wiki ).
