Ken Ishii 'Extra' - Music Video

The track "Extra" by Ken Ishii was released circa 1995, and along with it was this music video featuring animated awesomeness made by Studio 4°C, as directed by Koji Morimoto. It wasn't until the early-mid 2000s when I chanced upon this MV, when I first youtubed for Ken Ishii's tracks after purchasing a CD album while I was in Vietnam for a feature film production, circa 1999. I had just entered my techno-club-tunes phase of thy youth, and tried on different tracks (as recommended by the bootleg-CD seller in Saigon), and decided to give Ishii a go. > Discovering the track "Extra" years later was a fab surprise and the icing on the cake, as it paralleled my love for AKIRA, and as well the somewhat deviant and violent aspect of anime which appealed to me, I will not lie. "I Am a Hero" Film (アイアムアヒーロー?)

SYNOPSIS: "One day, after returning from work late in the evening, Hideo witnesses a traffic accident in which a car crashes into a nearby pedestrian, killing the victim instantly. However, despite severe injuries including a broken neck, the victim's body stands up and walks away. Hideo questions whether this is another one of his hallucinations, but strange events begin happening around him." ( IMBd ) Adapted from the Japanese horror manga by Kengo Hanazawa of the same name ("I Am a Hero" / Japanese: アイアムアヒーロー? / Cover above-right), this live action film is directed by Shinsuke Sato and stars Yo Oizumi, Kasumi Arimura and Masami Nagasawa. Launched April 23rd, 2016 in Japan, it will premiere in Thailand on July 7th, 2016(hence the English subtitled version of the trailer shown below!). The Coming of “Blade Runner Black Out 2022” Anime by Shinichiro Watanabe for Sony Japan

"Shinichiro Watanabe of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo fame is directing a short Blade Runner anime." - reported Brian Ashcraft for kotaku.com And that’s essentially all I needed to read to get my geek-blood pumping’! And the sneak peek at said anime just left me breathless with anticipation, I sh*t you not! "The short anime is called Blade Runner Black Out 2022 (ブラックアウト 2022). It’s takes place a few years after the first movie and, according to NetLab, is set during a power outage." Relishing the prospect of seeing MORE “Blade Runner” - ironically even though we’ve yet to watch “Blade Runner 2049” even though clips from the highly anticipated film has been unfolding in recent days - which works well for me (personally), as it still affords us small doses, without over-doing it, over-supplying folks, overloading our senses, IMHO. "BERSERK" Anime Debuts on ANIPLUS July 1st
