AFA MARKET at EXP - ESPORTS EXPERIENCE CENTRE (Kallang Wave Mall, March 18-20)

Has it been THREE years since we had any offline events - In this case relating to the annual "Anime Festival Asia"? (Used to be a staple event I'd go to, in addition to the annual Singapore Toy Con ...). But then again the pandemic has triumphed over the scene and community ... so THIS slice of local entertainment news was quite a welcomed "surprise"...! Welcome the "AFA MARKET" since scheduled to open this Friday March 18th and exhibiting thru the weekend ending March 20th!



The "AFA MARKET" will feature merchandise deals, brand showcases, and local Cosplay celebrities @ritheania.c, @xiaoyukiko, @kiyocosplay and more will bring the flavour we all have been missing in these COVID-plagued days...!



Besides the featured brands and cosplayers (and their merch, of course), I wonder if there'll be a "makers' market" (AKA "Artist Alley"), which I cannot seem to find any relavant hashtags, or info for tho... Or will this be a solely "affiliated retailers" set-up...? I've had wonderful experiences and hauls in the past (an example of 2017's score seen below too :p), and do miss that specific aspect of AFA, and constantly wonder how the folks who'd boothed before are doing now? Are they still pursuing the scene and their art?



Regardless, also note that the event will be also be broadcasting live from the venue for this month's AFA Station TV (18 March via afastation.com) featuring MADKID and many more, so for folks who've chosen to remain at home, this'll be a added plus, IMHO.

Folks interested to head down to Kallang Wave Mall were to book/choose "available slots" for the priority queue online here (yes, part of the "new normal" for events opened to the public), which alas as of this blogpost has been taken, to which the organisers mentioned: "...don't worry, walk in to the event is still possible. Our staff will allow entrance once capacity allows."

UPDATED: I had been utterly intrigued with the event (although I would not be able to visit this weekend, alas), but thanks to folks' Instagram uploads, we have a glimpse at cosplays and booths! I'll attempt to add whenever I can find them (which is harder as there are no specific nor "official hashtags" :p) ~ Thank You For Sharing with us, and Enjoy The Event, folks!
