PRESS RELEASE: "For the first time, Gardens by the Bay is holding a Japanese-themed festival, Sakura Matsuri, to complement its annual cherry blossom floral display.
As part of Sakura Matsuri, there will be an exciting lineup of activities such as Anime Garden, an anime-themed weekend that will be a treat for fans, with free anisong concerts featuring well-known performers from Japan such as May’n and GARNiDELiA, appearances by celebrity cosplayers like Korea’s SAIDA and Thailand’s Thames Malerose, and a Pikachu dance parade.
There will also be Flower Dome programmes organised in partnership with Japan Creative Centre, such as Japanese tea ceremony demonstrations, performing arts and a kimono parade.
Rounding off the festivities at the end of the month is Sakura Japan Fair, which is organised in collaboration with JTB, and features Japanese food and retail options, workshops and performances."
PRESS RELEASE (CONTINUED): "This year marks the third time Gardens by the Bay is bringing cherry blossoms into Flower Dome. Aside from the return of well-loved cherry blossom varieties, visitors can look forward to seeing charming sakura bonsai and lifelike resin dolls – an element of Japanese sub-culture and on loan from speciality collectors – dressed in elaborate kimonos posing against miniature scenes.
With much to look forward to, we would like to invite your photographer/camera crew to join us for a sneak peek of the first-ever Sakura Matsuri."
‘SAKURA MATSURI’ @ Gardens by the Bay (18 Marina Gardens Drive, Singapore 018953) will open to the public on Friday March 16th and exhibit thru Sunday April 8th, 2018 (9:00am - 9:00pm). Admission charge to Flower Dome applies.
